A Wellness Ritual We Love at Health & Me
At Health & Me, we’re passionate about simple, nourishing practices that help people feel grounded, energised, and connected — and matcha is one of our favourite additions to any wellness routine. More than just a vibrant green drink, matcha is a calming, antioxidant-rich super powder that supports both body and mind.
Whether you’re joining us for a retreat in the Herefordshire countryside or looking to bring more intentional habits into your daily life, matcha can be a beautiful place to start.
1. Calm, Balanced Energy — Perfect for Retreat Days
Unlike the sharp spike (and crash) that often comes from coffee, matcha provides a steady, gentle lift.
That’s because it contains:
• Caffeine for natural alertness
• L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes calm focus
This unique combination helps you feel energised and grounded — ideal for yoga sessions, mindful walks, journalling, or simply easing into the day at one of our retreats.
2. A Powerful Dose of Antioxidants
At Health & Me, we encourage nourishment that supports the whole body — and matcha is packed with antioxidants that do exactly that.
Because you’re consuming the whole leaf, matcha offers high levels of EGCG, a compound known for its anti-inflammatory and cell-supporting benefits.
It’s also:
• Naturally detoxifying
• Rich in chlorophyll
• Supportive of a healthy immune system
It’s a small choice with a big impact on long-term wellbeing.
3. Supports a Healthy, Natural Metabolism
While matcha isn’t a quick fix (and we don’t believe in those at Health & Me), it does gently support your natural metabolism. The combination of EGCG and caffeine can help your body use energy more efficiently — especially when paired with movement, connection, and nourishing meals like the ones we share on retreat.
4. Encourages Presence, Mindfulness, and Ritual
Matcha preparation is a mindful moment in itself — the whisking, the colour, the pause.
It aligns perfectly with the slower, intentional pace we embrace at Health & Me.
The L-theanine in matcha supports:
• Mental clarity
• Focus without tension
• A sense of calm awareness
It’s the kind of gentle grounding we love to weave into our retreats.
5. Naturally Cleansing and Nourishing
Thanks to its high chlorophyll content, matcha supports the body’s natural cleansing processes. It gently helps the body filter and remove toxins — a wonderful complement to the movement, breath-work, and restorative practices we offer.
6. Versatile, Delicious, and Easy to Incorporate
Whether you enjoy it traditionally or prefer a creamy latte, matcha fits beautifully into everyday life.
Some of our favourite ways to enjoy matcha at Health & Me:
• A warm matcha latte on a slow morning
• An iced matcha on sunny retreat days
• Blended into smoothies for an antioxidant boost
• Added to energy balls for a nutritious snack
• Enjoyed simply as a frothy, whisked tea
Choosing ceremonial-grade matcha gives the smoothest flavour and the brightest colour.
Matcha as a Health & Me Habit
Matcha is more than a drink — it’s a moment of calm, a healthful choice, and a ritual that invites intention into your day. It embodies everything we believe in at Health & Me: nourishment, balance, and taking time for yourself.
